Hi all-
James was 5 weeks on Sunday.  He was tiny at birth (5 pounds, 12 ounces) and as of his checkup yesterday was up to 8 pounds, 5 ounces (3 pounds more than his hospital discharge weight) and had grown 3 inches!  He nurses every 3 hours, round the clock (sometimes closer to 2.5 in the daytime).  I've been clustering at night, but it hasn't made a difference.  We are on a very loose EASY right now and he's going down just barely awake.  I wait until he's actually crying at night and he's feeding well at those night feeds - I tried holding him off until 4 hours the other night but I spent the entire hour resettling him and he woke up hourly after that. ::)

I know my girls were doing longer stretches at this point, but after seeing the weight gain at the doctor and after the other night, I'm thinking I'm just stuck with this for now.

Anyone else BTDT or have sone thoughts for me?

ooooooh!!! I have so been there done that!!! Logan was only doing 3-4 hours at night for the longest time! He is 11 months and up till about 9 months he was waking up at least three times a night. :P :-[ It was very hard. Then one night he did 5 hours then the next it was 6......He still wakes around 4 am for a feed then sleeps till 7:30.

So yes it gets better I promise....for only 5 weeks I think your doing well ;D but then I don't have high stanards ::) :P
My daughter was doing 9 hours at 4 months so maybe it's a girl thing ;)

Your doing great!!!

Though my standards are low too (we were doing night feed(s) until 1yo!) it sounds like he's doing well. Probably just such a tiny man with a tiny tummy that he needs those frequent feeds to get the calories in! You'll probably keep like this until you're trough the 6w growth spurt, and then hopefully things will settle some for you. Keep with the frequent day feeds, make night feeds as businesslike and unexciting as possible, an he'll get the idea ;)
