4.5 month old gagging on bottle and refusing.. Help pls

Hi everyone , well as the subject says my 4.5 month old is gagging everytime I put the bottle in her mouth, will struggle to drink few ounces. Up until Sunday she was draining 8oz 4 times a day and 6oz at a dreamfeed.. Now this morning she barely took 3oz.. She had a little head cold last week and is still congested but she always seemed to be congested from birth but her runny nose that she had last week has stopped. She is also teething and no sign of anything yet.. Would this cause her to refuse her bottles like this??? It's a big change from draining them to gagging on them. I give nurofen or teething granules before her bottle in case it is her teeth but it's not making any difference. I don't want to force bottle on her cause she might have an aversion towards it then. I wish babies could tell us what was wrong with them. She did bring up a little milk on my shoulder this morning but she did have the hands in her mouth.. What do u think girls?? Would it be a tummy bug? Teeth? Or something else!!

Hi Virgobaby Teething does sometimes cause babies to go off their milk or food as it hurts. She could still be sick and just not be wanting to drink.
Main thing is to make sure she doesn't get dehydrated...Has she been off the bottle since Sunday? If so I would maybe get her to the Dr to get her checked out to be safe. Its so hard when things are off and they cant tell you what's going on. I always think if you are worried then even for piece of mind its worth getting your LO seen to.

Well she is still drinking a bit, yesterday she drank 5oz,3oz,5oz and I got a big 8oz into her with a huge struggle before bed.. Df was 6oz . I know that wasn't bad but I know it's not normal for her either... This mornin she only took 3oz with a massive struggle and I will see now what she takes at 11... It's just not he usual 8oz... So frustrating. I will let you know how it's goes at 11.

If it is teeth ladies, do babies not have an appetite or just can't drink?? I don't want to see her hungry

Is she still snotty from the cold? Could she have a sore throat from the cold? It would be worth getting her checked out to rule out anything medical - ear infections can be hard to spot but put them off their feeds too.

If it is teeth you may find she doesn't want to drink so much for a few days and then it will pick up again although she is a bit on the young side but anything's possible.

Yes laura she is a little bit snotty but not as bad as she was and so cranky!!! Maybe i will just get her checked in case:(

nap and she screamed and drank 8oz for me??? So I'm puzzled

Take her to the Dr. Better safe than sorry hun. If it is nothing at least you will have piece of mind, and if it is something then you can get it seen to

We went to the doc and she has a sore throat.. So I'm hoping she will get better in a few days:(

She should start taking bottles better when she's feeling better again - at least you know there's a reason for it now.
