one nap
« on: June 23, 2011, 18:17:11 pm »
On Monday Alyssa did one nap for the first time and we go a 2hr and 45min nap( I had to extend it). Today was another one nap day and she did a 1hr and 50min nap. I tried to extend but couldn't. Many of you know that we struggled with EWs. Now they have shifted to about 6:30am. BT is normally between 7:30-8pm and her nights average 10.5hrs. We get the occasional 11hr night.  I think she is on the average for sleep, very different from DD1 who is on the higher side.
Now, I don't know what to do when her one nap is this short.

here is today:
wake 6:45am
nap 11:45am-1:50pm
should bt be 7pm. I am so scared we will get a 6am wu.  I don't even know if she can do 5hours on that nap.  With an almost 3hr hour nap she flew by it without a fuss.

Do I squeeze in a 10AP nap with the buggy. I think she would fall asleep.

I'd go for a CN today and do a regular bedtime.  F would never CN so we'd have to stick it out, but sounds like your girl is more user-friendly :-D

It's fine to alternate 2 and 1 nap days in the transition, in fact it's often preferred.  Some kids will and some won't.

OMG Wendy, I think I am having a moment of anxiety. I keep thinking that this girl will never give me a 2.5hour nap. The length we need to have a decent bt.
She did 5hours this morning. Was that not enough?  She did chat before she went to sleep. Normally she goes down in a flash.

I really need a drink right now.  I have knots in my tummy.

No you will need actually need 5.5 hrs to make it on a 2 hr nap I think
5.5 A
2 hr nap
5.5 A
Total 13 hrs + 11 at night = 24

and actually more likely 5.5 + 6 A because she's only doing 10.5 at night...

Very few kids do 2.5 hrs naps but some will and then cut their night (my son included).  Depends on what you are looking for...

(((hugs)))  Sorry 'bout your knots.

makes sense.
I would love what Madison did at this age-three hour nap and a 11hour night.  Wishful thinking!!!  :'(
Ideally, a nap over 2hours would be great so bt would be around 7:30pm.
Depending on her wu time tomorrow, if it is a one day I will see how she acts at the 5hour mark.

forgot to mention: got a cn at 5:05pm. only let her sleep for 15min.
