You're meant to have lo sleep in your room until 6 months to reduce the risk, however is putting them down for naps in a room of their own not the same thing as putting them down for bed time in there too?
Does that mean that you are spending their entire nap time in their room, too?
Because that's the reasoning behind having them sleep in the parents' room. Playing devil's advocate here...
I understand what you're saying about "meant to" do that. The American Academy of Pediatrics does suggest LO sleeping in the parents' room (they don't specify an age limit, though) (see:
http://www.healthychildcare.org/pdf/SIDSparentsafesleep.pdf).
However, I think that if LO's crib is free from clutter (until they're old enough), well ventilated, air circulation is good, and LO is sleeping on their back, then those things are much more important than where they actually sleep. For us, we had a monitor, but DS was in the room next to ours. He was a noisy, noisy sleeper...as is my DH
It was better--yet still extremely safe!!--for us all to be in our own rooms.
I agree with Shiv that YOU have to make the choice for your family/child. If you feel more comfortable with LO in the room with you, then you should do that. Everyone will have to adjust, but no one can fault you for studying the research and making your own parenting choice. *hugs*
Really, with BW, it'a more an issue of not letting LO co-sleep.
