Nursing strike??? PLEASE HELP
« on: July 25, 2011, 10:54:23 am »
I really need your help. All of a sudden this afternoon my 10.5 month old did not want his feed. He has been completely breast fed with no bottles his whole life, with introduction of solids after 6 months.

what is going on?

I'd pump in order to keep up your supply, give you some relief and perhaps he would take the bottle should he want some milk. Perhaps he'd take a bottle from someone other than you?

How long has he refused the breast for? Try not to stress ( I know it's easier said than done) he will be ok. Keep us posted!

Strangely enough this Ia just what happend, 7 am fed, 11 refused tried every hour after that but he still refused! At 5 he drank really well from one breast then he had his solids, therefore at 7 he refused the breast again. Now I hope he has enough to go the night. An then hopefully tomorrow we r back on track. One breast Ia seriously uncomfortable.

Do u think he Is weaning? He is 10.5 months?

hmmmm, he could be. How much does he weigh?  Personally at 10.5 months I'd give him what he will take and continue with solids but not increase them by much. You still want him to get most of his calories with breast milk but if he wont of course he'll be ok with solids.

Can you pump to avoid discomfort?
