quick question about something I read on BW site
« on: August 08, 2011, 04:12:19 am »
Hi there,
I recently was reading a number of links related to sleep, SA, and developmental milestones. One of the things that I read was that any wakings before 12am were due to/related to...

And I can't remember what it was related to or where I read that. My little one almost always wakes up at some point after bedtime and before midnight.

I'm never sure if its OT/UT, teeth, development, SA. Sometimes it feels like a different reason every night.

Anyways, if anyone knows what I'm talking about and can fill in the blank I would appreciate it :)

TIA

I think usually (though not always) NW before 12 are OT and after 12 are UT. However, if your LO is going through developmental changes, teething or is unwell then NW can occur anytime ::)

If it is at the same time every night it is likely more of a habitual waking :)

Thanks :) I asked this question before I went on holidays and forgot to check back until now.  DS typically has at least one NW between 10pm-12am, but never the same time, otherwise I'd consider w2s. And sometimes he has one after 12am.  Might post our EASY in the EASY forum as our naps are short again :(

Sometimes it is developmental, ie after dropping the CN or when they are learning a new skill....basically it is sometimes heard to tell with NW at that time. We get them sometimes no matter what the EASY is.

If you were getting them close to BT ie in the first 2 hours this is usually a sign of OT, and playing at 4am is usually UT. :) Posting on EASY sounds like a good idea :-*
