Yep get what you mean, don't want her to wonder what is going on if I suddenly WO. Will stay by the cot again tonight and then move further away tomorrow maybe. Will see how BT goes first I think. Keeping everything crossed!

Hi Sian, BT was good! ;D Not as easy as her nap but it only took about 30 mins tonight for her to lie down and fall asleep. No crying again either, just a bit of grumbling. She stayed lying down for ages at first and I thought she would just fall asleep but then up she jumped and started singing, chattering and walking about the cot! Anyway, I guess we are well on our way now so should I try sitting on the floor a bit further away tomorrow, or should I take it slower and wait until she is falling asleep straight away before I start moving?

Hi again! We had a fantastic night, C went to sleep at 8.30pm and did not make a sound until 8.00am when she was up for the day. ;D I have just put her down for her nap and moved a couple of feet away from the cot so I couldn't reach her, it went fine. She stayed lying down for a couple of mins, sat up and looked at me, then lay back down and fell asleep. I was out of the room with her asleep after 4 minutes!! Just need to see how BT goes now. Am wondering if she is a bit UT at BT which is causing us to have more problems. She always used to do a longer A time to bed than in the morning but recently she has been doing the same time for each A.

Just so I am sure... if she cries tonight and I can't settle her just with my voice do I move closer again and put a hand on her or just stick with it letting her cry? I don't really fancy letting her cry even though I am there with her, but will do whatever you think will work best.

It really depends on the type of cry, if it's mantra cry as she's trying to settle then I would leave her to it, if it's a distressed 'I need you' cry then I would try reassuring with my voice first then go & put your hand on her if this doesn't work.

Sounds like things are going really well! :)

Thanks Sian... I am really pleased with how well things have gone so far. DD has never really been one for mantra crying, she sings herself to sleep instead. So it won't be that, but she can very quickly get into a rage so I guess I will just have to assess how it is going and step in if I think I need to avoid a meltdown. Fingers crossed this won't happen though. Will keep you posted.

Hi, BT went well, she took about 30 mins again to settle. I was amazed as we had been to a party until late and C was so wound up. We didn't have time for her usual BT bath so I thought we would have real problems with her settling, but I managed to stay away from the cot and no contact with her. Hoping for another good night.

Just checking in to let you know that we are still making fab progress. :-X BT tonight took 5 minutes!! No standing up, no fussing, C just lay down, sat up twice to check I was still there and then fell asleep. Tomorrow I am going to move further away again but that will take me to her door, so I guess I will stay there and then if all goes well move out the door the next day.

We did have a 1.5h NW last night at 3.30, but that was because I let her nap for 3 hrs in the day because I knew she would be up late because of the party. So she was UT, this always happens if she has too much DT sleep. She cried at first, stopped when I WI and I just lay down in 'my spot' and WO when I thought she was asleep. But she wasn't and as I got half way out the door she sat up and looked at me! She went straight back down though so I carried on out of the room and she was fine with that. I could hear her on and off banging her dummies together until 5am but then she must have fell back to sleep until 8.30am. No crying or fussing at all so she must be getting used to being alone in her cot again. Yay.

Hi Sian, just a quick question if that is ok? So far so good and no blips at all but I am now sat right up against the closed door (inside DD's room). Obviously the only place to go now is out of the door, so do I just WO and wait outside the door? I am sure I have heard of people sitting in the open doorway but this will not work with DD as she 'has' to have the door closed. I tried to leave it open today and she was getting all worked up during our WD pointing to the door and babbling away. As soon as I shut the door she was fine. Guess it is just because she isn't used to it being open, plus even with the other doors shut in the house quite a bit of light comes in from the landing, which then distracts her spirited little mind! lol. What would you suggest?

Glad things are still going well!

I would try leaving the room & sitting outside the door & see how she reacts. You should still be able to use your voice from outside the door if she gets upset. Good luck!

Just so you know, I won't be on here for a couple of days, so if you post & I don't answer don't be offended!  :)

Hi Sian, how is E doing? Hope he is recovering well?

Just wanted to update you and let you know that for 2.5 weeks now C has fallen asleep on her own when I WO of her room!  :-X I am so pleased and can't thank you enough, I just hope it doesn't all go wrong again.

Our NW are not good though ATM and GW does not work in the night at all. Not sure what to do about them, I thought sleep training would make nights better, but they are worse than ever! Still at least we have cracked one problem. ;D
