NW in 3.5 month old on a 4-hr EASY
« on: August 30, 2011, 14:17:21 pm »
My LO is 3.5 months old, breastfed and on a 4-hr cycle. His E.A.S.Y. looks like this:

E:  6:45
A:  7:00 -  8:45
S:  8:45 - 10:45

E: 10:45
A: 11:00 - 12:45
S: 12:45 -  2:45

E:  2:45
A:  3:00 - 5:00
S:  5:00 - 6:00 (catnap)

E: 6:00
A: 6:15 - 8:00 (includes bath, massage)
E: 8:00 (bedtime nursing)
S: 8:15 - 10:30

E: 10:30 (dreamfeed)
S: 10:15 - 1:00
He usually wakes up atleast once  between 1 and 3am; I shush-pat him to sleep each time until its past 3, then I feed him.
E: around 3, 3:30 am
S: till 6:45

Yes, I know his 8:00-8:30 bedtime is late considering his wake time is around 7 am. However, we've tried an early bedtime and he is just not sleepy.

Anyway, my Q is, what do I do with his NW between 1-3 am? Should I feed him at that time? The few times I have fed him, he wakes up again for a feed at around 5 am, and that's just too close to his waketime of 7 am (which is when I want him to get a full feed).

He is on the higher side of A times huh?  Normally A's at this age are about 1 hour and 20-30 minutes.

Yes, I would feed.  He is young and probably needs that NF.  That feed will probably get later and later.  Can you try and resettle at the 5 am feed?  Honestly, at this age, we often had 2 NWs counting the 5 am waking.

Yes, he does 2 hours wake time most of the time. I've wondered if it was too long at this age, but he seems happy & content playing. He gets a little fussy around 1 hr 45 mins, which is when I do a wind-down and he falls asleep pretty quick.
