easy and child minder
« on: September 11, 2011, 04:20:59 am »
hey ladies,
Y is over 1Y so if this should be somewhere else, please feel free to move it.
I started work at the begining of this month and Y is going to child minder. (not sure what the right name would be, a group of 15 kids around the same age.) they are very good there and Y goes happely every morning. the thing is she only takes one nap there wich is geting better and longer from day to day. she wakes up at 6 and will only sleep at 12:30. that is a very long A and all though she still sleeps well through the night i think it is effecting her wake time wich is getting earlier from day to day.
i am scared caus soon the winter clock will come and this will make very early wakings.

Hi there...

Could you please post your LO's routine?

Is she with the childminder every day? Is she not able to continue with a similar routine to the one she has at home? How long is she napping for?

I imagine with 15 children they all get the same nap at the same time. Probably a bit late now (as you have chosen the childcare) but ideally you want the childcare to continue with your routine as you lo needs it. I bet she is getting OT if she is now on one nap before she was ready.

Would be great to see your routine as pp says but if you can't avoid one nap can you do early bedtime at least on the days she is at the minder to combate the OT?

thank you ladies,
she is at the minder every day, she realy does love going there.  she now takes a 2 hour nap there at 12:30. like you said, they all sleep at the same time. they did offer a morning nap last week but no one took it caus it was offered much to early.i  told them Y woudn't as she was used to two naps around 10 and 14:00. so in the evening she is very OT, cryes through her bath and we do a 19:00 BT. she BF and falls asleep in minutes.
good knews is today she slept till 7:00.

Well it's positive that she's napping for 2hrs there, that helps!

I would still aim for an earlier BT to avoid OT building up then add in a 2 nap day when she's at home & if she needs it.

If there is no flexibility in the time she naps at the childminder I agree do as early BT as you can and two good naps when she is home if she will take it. Maybe even ap a nap at home on weekends (in the buggy/car etc/feed etc) if she won't do an early one maybe. % days on 1 nap is a lot of OT is she can't catch up else where. Is 7pm her usual BT? I would even do 6pm if you can and hope she does a 13hr night.

this weekend she was so tyred. i was doing the dishes and notices the hous was to quit. i went looking for her. found her with her lovey sleeping on her bed room's floor at 9am. sweet heart.
i will do an earlier bed time, i was just scared she would wake up earlier and then have an even longer morning A.

Even if she still wakes early with an earlier BT then at least she has had more overall night-sleep & shouldn't be as OT.

I generally find ot is the thing most likely to give us ew. Hopefully she Will wake same time and just sleep longer.
