No teething forum... have you tried Orajel to numb him up before offering a bottle?  I found when DD was teething bad, that was the only way.  I had to rub the gel on, wait 5 mins, then offer a bottle.

Ok, I will try that.  My mom has him right now so I cant help her now but good to know in the future.  I wonder how long this is going to go on for.  Its day 3 of horrible nights and clingy, whiny baby.  :(

Wish there was a teething forum....where should I post my questions about that do you think?

I would use the Health section :)

I think Tracy says that teething goes in bouts of 3 days/nights.. so you might be in for a better happier little man :)

It does come in waves.. generally bad days come in groups of 3... sadly, the same rule doesn't apply to good days..you might only get one then another 3 bad ones...

I am wasting a ton of formula right now bc he's teething. So do I just give him what I think he will drink? He wont usually drink more of it runs out and he's still hungry.  Also, since he's not eating enough milk and I've just weaned the NF what if he's hungry at night? Feed him? I wish this stupid tooth would come already!!! :-(

I made 5 oz bottles when DD was teething really badly with the top two centre teeth... she rarely took more than that.  I offered more often too... I did find that she would take a good sized bottle first thing in the morning if I put Orajel on her gums, then changed her bum and gave her a bottle in her room while it was still fairly dark.  I would get up and get the bottle as soon as I heard her wake up - she would easily give me a couple minutes without crying so I could rush to the kitchen to get it.    The time to do the bum change gave the gel a chance to numb her up a bit before trying so she didn't think about the pain at all.  Then I just offered a bottle every 3 - 3.5 hrs... will he still eat solids?  DD generally doesn't do well with them when teething so I just skip them a give her a bottle instead - I find that she doesn't last long between feeds at this age without solids so she was more likely to take a small bottle every few hours.  It was a PITA - but it works :)

Thanks so much for the advice! He would much rather have solids than milk. Lol He will barely drink the 3 bottles he gets a day no matter how starving he is. So maybe I should try more solids? Just for the time being....

You certainly can, just be careful that he is getting enough water to keep him from getting constipated :)

How much water and juice is he drinking? Watch that he isn't filling his tummy with that over the milk!

I wouldn't actually give him juice - it's just empty calories that he doesn't need.

I only give him about 1oz of juice to about 3/4 oz of water.  Ok, so now I cant really get him drink much milk at all anymore.  :(  He is teething like a mad man....I can get him to drink about 3 bottles of about 6 oz a day.  He just really has to be starving to take it!!!  He acts like its poison.
