HELP-Early Morning Waking
« on: October 19, 2011, 19:06:53 pm »
Hello, my son is 6 months old and we recently began using the PU/PD sleeping training method with him as he was waking every two hours at night. His night schedule now is bed at 730, dream feed at 10 and waking one-two times during the night when I use the PU/PD method. However, he is waking at 530 am for the day, I do not believe he is hungry;however, is wide awake and I have been unable to put him back to sleep using the PU/PD method. My son is very active and is rolling over in his sleep (not a new skill) but I think this is waking him. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can extend his wake up time as it then affects his daytime schedule and I have been unable to use the 4 hours EASY as he is so cranky and tired.

I survived 4 months of 5am wake ups... the only thing that stopped them was sticking to set naps to reset her body clock... but if you LO doesn't tolerate OT well, this is a bad idea...

i would love to see your daytime EASY :)

Here is my four hour EASY routinen which is not typical because he is so overtired from not sleeping at night that I cannot follow it precisely:
Wake up 6 or 630 AM
Feed 630 AM
Activity 7-8 AM
S 8-915 AM
A 915-1030
Feed 1030
A 1045-1130
S 1130-100 PM
A 100-230 PM
F 230PM
A 230-430 PM
S 430-500 PM
A 500-700 PM
Bedtime Routine 7-730 PM
Bed 730 PM
1000 Dream Feed
Then up 3-4 times a night until 6 or 630 AM

Help, I know my son needs more sleep as he is overtired when he wakes, cannot stay up for long periods between naps but is extremely hard to put down and fights the PU/PD method. I can be upwards for 2 hours doing PU/PD in the night. He is definately a combination of spirited/touchy.

We need to see an actual day, not your ideal day.  The routine you have posted would be great, but I do think your first A time would be a bit short ;)

If he is waking at 5am, what time do you let him take his first nap?

I strongly suspect you are headed to dropping that catnap ;)
