Should I introduce a df??
« on: October 22, 2011, 12:45:52 pm »
Hello,
My dd is 15 weeks nearly.. we tried to do a df for a few weeks when she was about 6 weeks old, but we found that she still woke at 2am and 5am and the df didn't help so we dropped it. Now she is totally erratic - she will sometimes sleep through from 7pm till 3-5am then till 7am, but more often she wakes between 12-2am and then again at 5am and then wont go back to sleep. If she just has one feed shes much better and will then feed ok at 7am. If she has two night feeds she wont feed at all at 7am (unsurprisingly!)

My question is, should I reintroduce a df and hope that she then goes through a bit longer till 3-4am or more, or do you think her night habits will be disrupted by df?
It would be really nice to have a more predictable pattern.. we did a df for my son and he was much more predicatable, and settled.

I just dont want her to then go to having 3 feeds in the night!!

Any tips would be appreciated...

Sorry - I missed tihs yesterday!

I think the only way to know is to try really. My two were no good at the DF and woke more often after it than they did if i just left them to wake from hunger ::). A lot of babies do really well with it though and will STTN after a DF.

If you are going to try it again give it a good week+ before you decide if it is working as it can take a while for them to get used to it and change their patterns.

Wouldn't that have been a treat :)  Mine is just like Laura's - it disturbed her more than anything, but you should give it a go!
