Why the change???
« on: November 05, 2011, 03:21:42 am »
My DD is 4 1/2 months old. At about 3 months she began sleeping her nights 95% of the time. Then suddenly 2 weeks ago she began her NW. It is always between 2 & 3. Then I replace her paci and will go another hour. Then it has to be a bottle because she will not go back to sleep even with her paci. Now I am worried that since it is about the same time every night that it is habit.

So how is it that she can be sleeping her nights and all of a sudden everything up and changes? My DS slept his nights at 2months and never woke again during the night, so this is all new for me.

I need my sleep back!!!

Its not unusual for LOs to sleep through and then start waking again at the 4 month mark. Could be she is genuinely hungry. I would just feed and resettle rather than what you are doing. If she is waking an hour later again I think it's hunger related.

How many oz is she taking in a day? Do you do a DF?

She takes between 25 & 27oz per day including her DF.  I tried increasing her oz in the day, but she is not taking the extra.

I guess I do not feed her immediately at 2 am because I figure it is only 3 hours since her DF. What worries me is that it is always between 2&3 and I worry it is habit. However I should say that she does drink 4 of her 5 oz.

Hi hun, totally agree with Shiv. This happened with our DD, she STTN from 12 weeks for a whole month and then started waking for a feed again at around 4 months. We just used to feed her and then she would go straight back down and sleep through until morning. The feed gradually got later and later and she dropped it herself at around 6 months. Like Shiv said if she is waking up again so soon after you settle her and taking a good 4 or 5oz she sounds hungry to me.

Thank you both! Like I said I was so worried it was habit, that it was all I could see. I will feed when she wakes and hope that we will one day go back to sleeping our nights.
