2yrs 7mos still needs nap but refusing it?
« on: November 07, 2011, 14:05:31 pm »
DD1 id 2yrs 7months. She has been having 1 nap a day of approx 2hrs for a while. Recently we are really struggling with it; often she will play in her room for ages rather than napping and then either fall asleep too  late, like at 3pm, or not nap at all. She seems tired at around 1 so I think she still needs it but I can't force her! She wakes up at 7am, would normally nap from around 1-3pm, then sleep at about 8pm. When she skips her nap I go for a 7pm bedtime.  What should I do? Should I keep persevering or accept that naps are more or less over?

Murray went through a stage of this once or twice.  I used to put him to bed an hour early to make up for it, and have a quiet afternoon.  He is still having a nap each day now.  I also found that putting his nap slightly later seemed to help - gradually he shifted from 12 to nearer 1pm nap
L x Having a bw break from 1 Feb 2012 - if you want to get in touch please send me a pm.  I may not be here but you are all in my thoughts xxxx (probably be back some time)

still happily married, just not counting!

I agree, maybe shift the nap closer to 2pm?  Also, maybe she can do every other day? That is what we did when we were doing 1-0 switch.
