Gift ideas for 11-12 month old girls

My friend's DD was born 8th January 2011 & so at christmas she will be 11.5 months.  So I've got 2 presents to get - christmas & her birthday just 2 weeks later.

I've already picked out a birthday present for her:

Chosen b/c my son has some of the playsets in this range & he LOVES playing with it.

Now I'm totally stuck on what to get her for christmas.  Can you ladies give me any pointers as to what things your 11-12 month DD's are really enjoying playing with at this age ???

That link is awesome....funny to see what everyone was up to with their lo's so many years ago!  My aunt got this for dd for her 1st birthday and she adored it....

I am a big fan of books for 1st birthdays....really nice board books of classics like Runaway Bunny or Goodnight Moon or my favorite...On the Night You Were Born...I adore this book!!! Such a lovely keepsake.

Yes, DD loves the board books she just got for her 1st birthday - hungry caterpillar, each peach pear plum and a few (less famous) others..

she also loves a toy piano she got from John Lewis:

she's always asking me to put on her nursery rhyme CDs (the ELC has a great selection) too

and she really enjoys a number of toys she has for stacking things (rings, blocks etc) on sticks (e.g. http://www.johnlewis.com/230400266/Product.aspx) - one of these toys is a train and each carriage has 3 sticks on it that you can stack various wooden bricks on - it's great, not sure where it came from though and have thrown away the packaging now so can't even tell you who made it I'm afraid...

I almost forgot, DD also LOVES her retro fisher price telephone toy (she is obsessed with phones at the moment - she's just a bit disappointed when no one talks back on the toy ones!):
