12 week old- NWs and growth spurt or AP?
« on: November 12, 2011, 23:21:16 pm »
Hi,
My 12 week old hasn't been the best sleeper at night due to reflux and being touchy/spirited...but at the 10 week mark (or so) we would get an initial chunk of almost 6 hours of sleep. I put him on EASY right around then and added a dream feed at 10:30 or 11 each night. Now, he wakes up every 3 hours and even the paci won't pacify him for long, he seems hungry. So, for 3 nights now I have been feeding him on the 3 hour mark when he wakes and he does drink 5-6 ounces. One evening I hadn't even gone in for the dream feed yet and he awoke hungry. So, I am not sure if this is AP by responding to his 3 hour NWs or if it's truly a growth spurt and if I should just go with it or if after a few days do we try to do more sleep training? He doesn't respond well to shush/pat for his NWs-  he screams at the top of his lungs and may fall back to sleep with the paci for another 20 mins but will wake up screaming again. My first DS was such a good sleeper, so this one is throwing me for a loop and of course I forgot a lot about what we had to do the first time around. I do have him on a good 3 hour EASY routine and he eats every 3 hours during the day- 5 oz, sometimes 6.

Thanks in advance for your help!
