Do 2 yo sleep regress??
« on: November 13, 2011, 20:25:49 pm »
My dd is just over 2 and is taking 1 to 2 hrs to go to sleep after bedtime routine.  Is this just another phase i need to get through with tough love?  I am also in my 1st trimester of no 2 pregnancy and particularly tired and therefore very grumpy and get very cranky very easily.  Is there going to be a light at the end of this tunnel?

She prob needs her nap cutting if she's taking that long to go to sleep at night.  What does her current routine look like?

Thanks for getting back to me.

She is awake at 6.50 am
Down for nap between 12.30 and 1 for generally 1.25 to 1.5 hrs.  Her naps have recently gotten longer, occassionally stretching for 2 hrs.
We start bedtime routine at about 6.30 pm to be asleep between 7 and 7.30 pm.

She has hit the terrible 2's so we are having lots of tantrums which I am not sure if it is because she is so tired or just testing the boundaries.  She looks and acts tired at bedtime but often lays in bed yelling for something, or banging the walls and starts to get hyperactive the moment the lights are dimmed

We have had major sleep disruptions too! There is another thread about it somewhere but it seems to be very common at this age. I have no real advice but to keep in keeping on, just do everything the same. I have been seeing some improvement lately. Many people have told me to ride it out and it will settle again...sorry for no direct advice but at least you know you're not alone!

Thank you.  Good luck to you too!  She has been in her bed for 45 min for her nap and still not asleep (currently banging the wall with her musical star), if i wasn't so tired with being pregnant I am sure I would be much more patient.  I guess it is just another challenge of parenting!
