Now I know I may be getting ahead of myself but the other question I had is about how long our day will be if actually starts napping 1.5h x 2. Right now, her first nap is usually at 10:30 or so, and if she wakes at 12:00, the next nap should be at around 3:25. If she does another 1.5h then that will take us to 4:55 and then a 7:30 bedtime would be way too early, right? I guess it would have to move up to 8:30...is that too late?
The days do start to get long around this age, then short again once you are on to 1 nap.

So you can either cap 1 nap at say 1hr, or (probably the best option ATM) you can PD for BT a bit later. If your LO STTN then your day may look like this
WU 7.30
Nap 10.30-12
Nap 3.30-5
BT between 8 and 8.30

11hr nights are great for an 8month old, as is 3hrs of day sleep :) Its funny, as soon as I got Z's short naps sorted I had to start capping them because he was getting too much ::) its a silly little world really!

Ok that seems alright :) although having 2 1.5 hr naps is something I can only dream of for now lol..

Some weird stuff is going on with our AM nap now. We seem to have surpassed the 35 min mark, which is super, but the past couple of days our naps have been 1 hr (give or take a couple of mins). I'm keeping the A time at 3.5 hrs so I don't think she's UT. Her tired cues are really hard to read so I'm not really sure what's going on because we did have a few days last week where she did 1h 20m...

I haven't worked on the PM nap yet because we're usually out for this one. I should try to extend tomorrow though...

Any thoughts on the hour long AM nap?

P.S. how do you "show thanks" on here?  :)

For an 8 month old an hour is fine really, Especially if you get 2 naps 1-1.5hrs long ;)

For us 1 hr naps were usually UT or discomfort I teething. Maybe leave the A for a few days then try adding another 10 mins and see if you get a touch more :D

Tired cues are so hard at this age! You are doing great!

If you click on the Thank you under 'showing appreciation ' on a persons profile details on the left it will add thanks. I just showed appreciation to you, so you now have 1 :)

LOL thanks for the thanks!

I was thinking that I am OK with an hour too. If I get 2 1 hour naps, I will be a very happy camper :)

The other thing that's been happening lately is that she usually wakes up at around 6:30am, hangs out in her crib for about 15 mins or so and then goes back to sleep until 7:30 or 7:45. Will this effect the morning A time..?

This is great! It means she is resettling herself, and this is usually the worst time for them to do it :) I found Z would wake at 5.30 and want up for the day because he wasn't tired enough to get back to sleep. I would just start the A time from when you hear her at 7.30/7.45. If you think she needs it a touch shorter then that is okay too. It may be trial and error :-\ for a bit. Finding the first A is the hardest, but once its cracked the rest of the day usually follows :)
