Earlier and earlier please help!!!
« on: November 17, 2011, 05:57:32 am »
Hi my DD turns 1 next week and her mornings are getting earlier and earlier today 4.50am!! This us starting to make me a grumpy mummy!! I have tried to extend her morning A times but it doesn't seem to make any difference? Her routine pretty much has been like this fir the last couple of weeks that u can remember, very tired now!

A 5.30-6
E 6-6.30 Bottle
A
S 9-9.30 I really struggle with this
   Sleeps for about 1-1.5
A
E 12 lunch. Bottle just before nap
A
S 2-2.30. Sleeps 1-1.5 hour
E 4 ish dinner
A
S  6.30-7 And bottle

At the moment her top teeth are just poking trough but this has been going on fir 2 weeks now and I'm so tired her waking early I leave her but she just starts ti moan and wakes my 3 year old who is very grumpy and tired and I think it's affecting his sleep now, I don't know what to do I fear this is getting worse and worse and Its getting out if control which I feel is my fault!

Please any ideas I would be very grateful

Kirsty

Hi kirsty, EW are rubbish aren't they! BTDT too with my DS so lots of hugs.

I would personally cap that morning nap at 45 mins to start with and then offer the pm nap a bit earlier and let your LO sleep as long as she likes.

Ie
WU 5.30 - out of cot 6
Nap 9/9.30 for 45 mins
Nap 1/1.30 for 1.5 hours or longer
BT 6.30/7pm

You are likely starting the 2-1 which makes for long days to start with! What really helped me with EW was to keep them in the cot as one as possible in the dark until a reasonable hour ie 6am at the earliest. If my LO got upset I would just go in and sit with him. It encouraged him to sleep longer and meant he lasted better for his first A time.

Have a look at these links and let me know what you think.

HUGS - To make sure I survived it I did the following 3 things....Go to bed early. If your LO is NW then see if your DH can do NW prior to midnight so you can get a decent stretch of sleep. Prioritise my first cup of coffee/tea so that I always had something for me. If I was going to be up that early I NEEDED that cuppa! ;)

Good luck for today, it doesnt happen overnight...but hopefully over time you will see improvement.

Nope!! Yesterday pm nap was 1.25 she woke at 3pm and went ti bed at 6.30. It's now 5am here in uk and she woke up 10 mins ago I gave her a bottle which she drNk all of as she only wanted 2ozs before bed so guessed she was hungry! Just thought I'd see what she does if I didn't actually get her up! not sure I'd this wS the right thing or not? I've noticed that since she has been EW she hasn't really been interested in her BT bottle, not sure if this was down to teething also? well she gas fallen straight back to sleep, and I'm going to try too ! Wish me luck fir a better day today

Good luck Hun. For me it was really important to keep Z in bed if I could up till a reasonable hour. For me it was 6am. Obviously if he wailed I went in and just sat with him, but if he grizzles/talks in his cot I waited till 6am. You could be right about hunger too if she has hit the 1yr GS.

Is she tired at BT? I womder if she could do with a bit more with a 7pm BT?

Hi well she woke again at 6am and the bottle I gave her at 5 she only drank 2ozs and than I gave het bottle at 7.30 thinking she would be starving but only drank 1oz I put het down at 9.30 woke her after 45 mins.
But then she didn't really want her lunch u gave her bottle at 1.30 but she refused it she fell asleep at 1.45 but only slept for 45ins??? Now I'm clueless she will never make 6.30-7 bedtime!! but I think now I might put her back on her d formula! will this ever change I feel sorry for her as she must be tired because I am

How is she when she wakes? From her pm nap?
Do you think she would prefer a long am ap and short pm?

Hi I always wake her from am nap now as suggested on here but she never really sleeps any longer than normal? After today's short 45 min nap I had to put her back down at 4pm and woke her at 5pm and bed again at 7pm! Again I must stress no milk!!!
I think she would definitely prefer a long am nap? But then if I put her down for am nap at about 9.30 ish and she sleeps til 10.30-11am do I only them give her a short pm one? she is only really grumpy if I wake her from nap x

SO I really think you are in the 2-1 here. It will take time to get things back to a good routine but if you are consistent she will come right

You either need to:
Push out the AM nap gently to get a good long late AM nap then offer the afternoon nap as a CN - 30/45mins max.
OR
Cap that AM nap as you are doing, and play around with A times afterward to get a good long PM nap. Usually after 45mins AM nap a lot of LOs can do 3hours or so, but some can do amost a full A time in which case you may need to cap the nap to 30mins and try  2-2.5hr A time.

I would check out the support thread here http://babywhispererforums.com/index.php?topic=215407.0
as you can get support from other mums in the 2-1 as well :)

Thank you so much for your advice she woke this morning at 4am I gave her bottle as I guessed she would be starving! And she drank every oz!! She then woke at 7am!! I am so pleased but not sure if I did the right thing? Now I'm really trying to see what is best CFO the am nap or let her sleep and have a catnap pm?? What works best for the 2-1 ? X
