8mth stuck on 1-1.25hr naps
« on: November 28, 2011, 11:34:16 am »
My LO just turned 8mths and has been stuck on 1-1.25hr naps for both AM & PM naps.  Our day looks something like this:

 Wakes 6-6.30am
 Bottle 7am
Breakfast 8am (cereal, bit of toast)
 School run of older DS
Put down 9-9.30am depending on awake time in morning. Usually sleeps until 10-10.30am.
 Bottle 11am
 Outing and play at home
Lunch at 12pm (veges & fruit)
Play with toys or outside with me
Nap 1-1.30pm depending on awake time from last nap (if still asleep need to wake him up at 2:30pm for school run)
Afternoon tea 3.00pm (Yogurt, fruit, cheese etc)
 Outing to shops and/or play
 Dinner 5pm (veges & fruit)
 Bath 6pm
 Bottle 6.30pm
In cot for sleep 6.45 pm. No issues going down, sleeps all night rarely wakes

- His awake time currently is approx 2.5hrs, is it too short? should I try and extend this?

- Because of the afternoon school run, I need to wake him up if he is still sleeping and depending how he is will offer him a catnap at about 4:20ish for 30mins just to get him thru.  If he does have the CN then bedtime is at 7pm, but if not, then he is in bed for 6:30pm

- How do I work it so that he has a longer AM nap and then maybe a shorter one in the afternoon given the time constraint for pick up etc

thanks for your help.

Hey There :)
For an 8 month old your EASY looks good. Atis age sometimes a 1-1hr15 min nap can be restorative. However I do think your A times need pushing out closer to 3 hrs. If you try to push out the first A of the day you may get a longer nap and be ableto do a shorter one in the pm before or after the school run. What do you think?
