Dream feed too light?
« on: November 29, 2011, 17:50:32 pm »
DS is 8 weeks. Weve been cluster feeding at 6 and 8 pm and he usually sleeps till 1 or 1:30 am. Sunday we decided to start dream feeding at 10:30 or 11 pm. so far he's only taken about 2 to 2.5 oz at the dream feed.  His usual bottle feed at 1am was 3.5 to 4 oz.   Should I be worried or is this typical?  So far he hasn't gone more than 3 hours after the dream feed.  Hoping if I keep it up for a few days this will gradually get longer.

Hi there

What was his intake at 1am when you dream fed him?
I wouldn't be too worried. It's not like you can force him to take more, IYKWIM. ;) Dreamfeeds can sometime take awhile to really get going. I was BFing (so I never knew how much DD was taking) and it took her a good week or so to get the hang of it.

Hope that helps. :)

With DD1, I started at 8 weeks with the dream feed, it took 3-4 weeks to get her to take a full feed, every DF. I had loads of problems with loud neighbors at the time but once we moved, on good nights she would be in bed at 8pm/ DF-10:30pm/ NF- 4:30-5am/ WU-7:30-8am.
With DD2 (5weeks) we started DF @ 10:45pm last week (or the week before, can't remember) and some nights she takes 3oz some 2oz. She still gets up between 2-3am for another bottle.

It just takes time, just think your laying the stones for STTN within a few short weeks  :D
