How to get 10 week old twins to sleep through the night?
« on: November 30, 2011, 17:36:03 pm »
Hi everyone,im new to this site and was looking for some advise on getting my twins to sleep through. They feed at about 10pm then they stay awake till 11-11.30ish mainly cos they are sicky babies and it takes them a while to settle their tummies. They wake up at anytime between 2 and 4 for a feed and then take another hour to get back to sleep. During the day they are angels and sleep alot which i think maybe the problem, but it is hard to keep both awake for long periods during the day.Would be very greatful for any ideas you may have.x

Hi twin mum.
Congrats on the twins! :) when you say they are sicky, do you mean spill a bit or suffer from reflux, wind, gas or tummy issues?

Unfortunately i am not going to say what you want to hear ;) IMO they ae sleeping well for 10 week olds. It is very common, and normal for them to wake for feeds in the night. Some LOs do for a long time, esp if BF

What time do they go down for the night? Have you tried anything so far to assist with their discomfort after feeds?

Also do want to post what their routine looks like in the day so we can see how long they're awake and asleep and what times they feed? If they are sleeping too much in the day that could be why they stay awake a while after their NFs.
But as Sara says 10wo is very young to be sleeping through with no feeds.

Are they BF or FF?  Either way, two or three night feeds is totally normal at this age.  They may drop to one NF between 3-4 months, and then keep that feed until solids are going well around 7 months ;)

Congrats on the twins :)
