10.5 MONTHS OLD AND STILL WAKES FOR A BOTTLE
« on: December 01, 2011, 09:56:14 am »
Hi, My name is Ria i have a 10.5 month old baby girl, I am new to this site and was just wondering if anyone could help me as not sure on what to do. My little girl still wakes up for a feed at least twice a night. Surely she doesnt need milk during the night at this age. When Harlow was 6 weeks old she was diagonsed with reflux so was a bad feeder who would only take about 2ounces every 1 1/2 hours maybe 2. And was on medication. Now at nearly 11 months she is off meds and doing well on 3 solid meals a day with snacks inbetween, Harlow wont take any milk during the day but will do 2 feeds of 4 ounces during the night.
My question is does she really need these feeds during the night?
If not how can i get her to stop?
Im not sure if its a case of accidental parenting as during the night im worrid Harlow will wake my 4 year old so i think i just feed her so she will go back to sleep.
Please help.

No, she surely doesn't need them at night. Reflux really changes everything as I'm sure you know but now that it's out of the picture it's time to sort things out. :)  What you need to do is switch those feeds from night to day. There are a few options on how to do it and you can choose whatever you think will work best for both of you.

You could go cold turkey at night and offer the milk during the day.
You could gradually reduce the amount you offer at night - see here   http://babywhispererforums.com/index.php?topic=46907.0
You could drop one bottle cold turkey and then the other, or drop one and then reduce the other.

Just know that at her age she will probably not be impressed with the change, so whatever you decide to do, be sure you can commit to it and see it through.

welcome to the site :)
