Accidental CNs...how to deal?
« on: December 02, 2011, 11:53:25 am »
D is pretty much solidly on one nap now, only very rarely does she have 2 as she now mostly refuses a CN in the AM in her crib.

Thing is the littlepest who was AP resistant for a LONG time now loves to fall asleep in the car and sometimes even the buggy. Shock, horror!!

So today she woke at 6/6.30 and she slept in the car for maybe 10 mins at the very most, probably less. I put her down for a nap at 11.45 and now she's ing about up there.  ::)

How much A time do you generally add after a silly 10 min car/buggy nap?

what time did she take the nap emma?

Oliver was up silly early at 5.20am today (he too is for the most part on 1 nap) & I let him sleep 15mins 9.30-9.45.  I am going to put him down for his big nap at 12.45 so 3hrs A & hope & pray.  Last time I did this he chatted for 15mins when I put him down so 3hrs might even be too short!  Though he is a little older than D so she might not manage that.  I'd say at least 2.5hrs though.

Really!!??!! After a less than 10 min nap! Wowee!

She had a CN from 10.15-10.20/25 in the car on the way home from the supermarket and I put her down at 11.45 so way too early then.

She's still awake up there now and just started crying so I guess I'll try starting her w/d again.

I agree with Claire.  R could go at least 2.5-3 hours on a stupid short CN.  GRRRR!!!

This seems to keep happening to us (also from the kid who rarely slept in the car!) as C has a habit of falling asleep 5 mins before we get home. She's been farting around up there today after shutting her eyes for about 2 mins and it would be when it's our work Christmas party tonight and first time DH is putting her to bed with a bottle! ::)

Hope miss D settles down soon! :)

Hi Emma - this has happened to us too.  If by accident L has a catnap (10 mins absolute max) in the am, I will prob have to wait another 2.5-3hrs before nap.  I try to ensure she absoultely doesn't have a CN after 10.15 am or it means pm nap is just way too late (for me!).  She screamed and screamed at DH for a good hour a few weeks ago before falling asleep because he accidentally let her have a catnap (10mins) in buggy around 11am.  He couldn't believe it would push her nap time back so much.  They are crazy these LOs ::)

What time does she normally have her nap, Emma? Because when the girls were at the stage of just sometimes falling asleep in the car I used to find that I didn't need to push the nap back at all, so I am wondering if perhaps you missed her usual sleepy point because you assumed you needed to push the nap.

Well I gave in and got her up for 10 mins then gave her a bottle, which I am trying to stop! She feel asleep fine after that but now the question is for how long?

I am so annoyed. I just wanted half an hour to sit in silence by myself in the house, not to be so I guess.

So that was a whopping 3 hour A after a less than 10 min CN in the car. Utterly ridiculous! SOmetimes she only does a 3 hour A to bed after a 3 hour nap!

Posted at the same time C - her nap is usually anywhere between 11.30 and 12.30 depending on nursery PU etc, I had put her down thinking the CN wouldn't count, esp as she is so tired these days.

If Finn closed his eyes at all it was as good as having a nap.  I'm not surprised she needed more A time after that.

Don't forget that night is different, so her melatonin kicking in as the day draws to a close.  Midday is just too much light and stimulation to produce much sleep drive and if she snoozed for 10 mins that could easily kill that drive.
The tweaking never stops!

Yep, pretty much what I was gonna say. My boys could do almost a full A time after a 5 minute shut eye. Annoying but true.

Emma it's so odd seeing this as just today dd2 close her eyes AS we were pulling into the drive, Pd for nap a bit later and she bloody well refused! Which is totally unlike her! PD again 1.5 hours later and she slept but I had to wake her to preserve bedtime ::) Really didn't think I'd be dealing with this already with her!!!
Blessed mum to two home-birthed darling water babies

hey you with the pretty face, welcome to the human race

Ugh, so not at all uncommon then. Makes me feel a bit better.  :)

I had to wake her today at 3.20pm to preserve BT which was at 7.10pm. She was falling asleep on the bottle.  ::)

God, I've had SUCH stressful day with her. Not to mention the Wee Man and I didn't even clap eyes in him until 3 today!
