My lo will not drink water - is this a problem?
« on: January 06, 2012, 20:57:10 pm »
My little man is 11months and exclusively bf and is a right boob monster. I try throughout the day to offer water but he just isn't interested. I've tried different cups and have finally settled on a straw nuby cup which he does like. He will take 2 swallows of water but then anything else he takes after that he just spits straight out. He ends up covered in water - is this normal? Should I be worrying about how little water he takes?

I wouldn't worry at all.  If he's still taking good milk feeds he'll be well hydrated.  Just keep offering his cup with water and he'll get the hang of it.  My LO just took sips for ages and then all of a sudden decided she loves water.  I offer water with meals and throughout the day so I imagine all those sips add up!
