nearly 1 year old, waking every two hours!!
« on: January 10, 2012, 18:00:02 pm »
I have a friend who has done a lot of accidental parenting.  Her little boy will be 1 in about two weeks and he's still waking every 2 hours.  They did co-sleeping for a long time and she also always fed him back to sleep when he woke up.  He's also never been on any kind of a schedule.  I know she's tried to let him cry, but he's gotten so worked up he's pooped his pants (maybe even thrown up), she's tried not feeding him and he just cries and cries and cries.  She's expecting again and I just fear for her.  I want to help her, but she also seems a little unwilling to put in the effort to break him of this habit.  I know I probably need more info about the situation for you to help, but I thought I'd see if you had any tips.  She has her work cut out for her...

Hi Emily.
I am sorry to hear about your friend, it's a tough situation :(
Is there a chance you can get her to come here?
Anyway, there is a lot of info to read, most of it is gathered here:

Hun, it's very difficult to help when one is unwilling to receive the help, you are a really good friend for trying to help her, but she needs to make this decision iykwim.
