Is it okay to mix the order and feed before bed and naps?
« on: February 07, 2012, 22:31:43 pm »
My son and I are on our first day of EASY.  He loves having his bottle before his naps and bedtime as it puts him to bed.
The reason I bought Tracy's book and I'm trying EASY is because Rylan does not have a routine.  We will start bedtime around 7:30 and he will be sleeping my 8 but wakes up screaming about 20-45 minutes later.  He's then up until 10 or 11pm!  He also is a snacker since we feed him anytime he's fussing, I really want him to get a good feed every four hours.
My question though is since Rylan loves feedings to put him to sleep would it be okay to keep that and follow the rest of the EASY routine?  I'm sure there's a reason why Tracy does not want the feeding before sleep but I can't find it in her book or online.

Last night when I put him to bed without a feeding and just layed him in his crib it took 1.5 hours for him to finally go to sleep.  I kept at the PU/PD but it seemed to upset him more.  I'm really praying that tonight goes better.

Any advise or suggestions on this would be much appreciated.

Thank you,
Barb

The reason we put A before S is because it is to important to have independent sleep. It is great feeding to sleep, but then what do you do when he decides that he's not going to sleep after a bottle? Or is having short naps and so needing them mote frequent than his feeds? Tracy was all about 'start as you mean to go on' and independent sleep is the crux of the whole EASY method - the routine is to support independent sleep, not the other way round!

How old is you baby boy? What sort of routine are you getting these past couple of days?

He's 7 months.  Right now he fights sleep so bad, some days he will take two good naps, somedays none and he's in a bad mood by the time he goes to bed because he's so tired.  With our current plan it's so hard to know what he needs/wants.  That was what started my search for a solution and I found the Baby Whisperer.  I think it's going to be great once I have him on this routine, but I know changing the feeding/sleep pattern is going to be VERY hard.  Last night I was crying so hard by the time I got him to sleep.  I feel so bad that because of my bad parenting he's having to suffer :-(

Thanks for your help!

I was going to move this over to EASY, but see you have a thread there already, so I am going to lock this and ask that everyone wanting to support, follow the link:
