Should I wake my 7.5wo to eat??
« on: February 09, 2012, 23:42:43 pm »
My 7.5 week old has recently started taking longer naps 2-3 hours and doesn't seem hungry if I wake her to feed every 3 hours.  Sometimes she will still eat every 3 but often she wants to go longer Should I be waking her to eat??

oops- i initially read this as 7.5 months.. and thought YES WAKE HIM!! BUT- At 7.5 weeks, how is his weight? Any issues? does he wake more frequently at night needing a feed? At that point i would wake my guy for feeds ever 4 hours as his weight was good and he was only waking a standard amount of time. That's my experience- Are you BF or bottlefeeding...?

Thanks! :)

We are due for a weight check in a week and a half, but LO is off to a good start and appears to be doing well.  She is waking pretty consistently at 1:30am and 5-7am(ish) for a feeding...not more.  I'm breastfeeding.

She seems to want to take a long (2.5-3 hour nap) mid day... the other naps are often shorter.

I think that that's fine- you just need to make sure you are feeding 6-8 times in 24 hours. I found with my guy that after the initial phase he went to 3 hour feeds, before going back to 4 hours at about 4 months...
