Bottle DF at 5 months old
« on: February 14, 2012, 16:39:03 pm »
My DH gives Anna a bottle for her DF each night. She is sucking back 6oz easily, and I am just wondering if that is a good amount or if I should increase it to 8oz? Every other feed is a BF so I am not sure how much is a good bottle amount for her age.

She gets the 6oz DF at about 10:30 each night and is up sometime between 3-4:00 am to nurse. She basically feeds every 3.5-4hrs round the clock, actually.

Is it BM or formula in the bottle? If she is draining it you can put another oz in and see how she does. At 5 months most bottle fed babies will be taking 6-9oz so it's fine size wise but she can probably take a bit more if she is taking it all!

It's formula; I can't get anything pumping and need the extra sleep, so DH stays up and makes a bottle for that feeding. She drains it every time in  a matter of minutes! Ok, thanks Laura... I will get him to add another oz and see how she does. I just didn't want to stuff her too full.
