Many NW with 5.5 month old
« on: March 09, 2012, 13:59:47 pm »
Hi there. We are doing great with the 4 hour easy. Waking at 7:30 and going to bed at 8:30 but recently she has been night waking a lot! Usually 8-10 times and it's getting worse. She has reflux and has been on Zantac for a week and en they switched her to omeprezole and has been on that for a week. She sleeps in a nap nanny on the floor of her room to keep her head and chest elevated. She has slept in her crib before so I know she can sttn I just don't know what else to do? Her room has blackout shades with a a nightlight and she uses a pacy. But sometimes will fall asleep without it even in, or wake and fall back asleep on her own. I just don't know what could be making her wake so much. I have tried solids but she is not a big eater and barely eats any when given, maybe a teaspoon if that.

Reflux peaks between 4-6months and I am wondering if it is bothering her in the night. I would certainly give the omeprazole a bit longer to take effect. (It can take up to 2 weeks) and see if she improves.

Can you post her EAS

When you say she wakes a lot, how is she waking, and how frequently. ie are they all in a 4-5 hr period every 45mins oo more spaced...and does she wake crying, screaming, talking...

Our easy is pretty much this:

7:30 wake
8:00 eat formula
9:30 nap
12 eat formula
2:00 nap
4:00 eat formula
Depending on wake up catnap around 5 or 6
Wake by 6:45 if not already awake
Bath 7:45
Eat formula and bed 8-8:30

When she wakes its a little crying and fussing. It's sometimes every hour sometimes 3 times in an hour. She gets ba k settled easily for the most part either wants her pacy or just my voice. Around 4 am she gets up talking and when I go in she smiles and just talks. I try and get her back down takes about 45min for her to get tired again. Then she will wake up maybe one or two more times before 7:30. I try and extend her awake times but she maxes out at 2 hours. She gets fussy before and wants to go down so I do quiet time til 2 hours has passed.

I think she sounds a bit UT at night time. Do you think she could do with an A increase closer to 2.5 hrs between naps?

Is that first nap 2.5 hrs? it may help to cap that nap at 2 hrs as an alternative if you want to keep the nap times the same so she is more tired.

Most LOs this age have A times between 2.5-3 hrs.

I try and keep her awake for her A times but she fights them and is completely ready for a nap at 2 hours. I try to keep her awake longer but she is so fussy. That is also what I thought since she wakes at night and is ready to play...but her a times are what she makes them to be and she rarely stays awake longer than 2 hours.... Mybe longer nighttime A time? What do you think?

Okay cool re nap lengths. Some LOs do like the shorter first A time, definitely see if you can get a touch more for the next one or between the last nap and Cn. Really you want a full A between naps and a short A between CN and BT ie 1.5 hrs max as the cn is just to get to BT, I would cap that at 35 mins or so ;)

Your definitely heading towards 2 naps. Here is a support thread for 3-2 naps
