how do I tempt him to eat chicken??
« on: March 26, 2012, 13:22:09 pm »
Henry used to love chicken but now will not touch it. Nothing new there but i would really like him to eat it if possible. He always seems to chew it for ages and so I wonder if it is just dry...?

Any ideas for easy and tasty chicken meals??

thanks

i used to blanch chicken breasts, put it in water and bring it to boil for 10 mins and then leave it in there for 10 mins.  Cube them and then add to pasta or sauce or slice it to add to whatever.  This way it wont be dry.  Or use chicken thighs, wont dry out.

My dd has chcken issues too LOL. But I make chicken noodle soup that she devours, so that is one way I get her to accept it. Plus I put optatoes and all sorts of veggies in the soup too.
Another way I used to get her to eat it is to chop it up soooooo tiny...almost pulverized, and then I'd mix it into stuffing and make little balls out of it and called them "dumplings"....she loved them!

I've got a chicken pasta bake recipe I'm going to blog soon where the chicken goes quite soft or maybe make it into a curry?  If it's textural cooking with a sauce will really help.

Also can any kids resist chicken nuggets?  http://mamacook.blogspot.co.uk/2011/10/garlic-and-herb-chicken-nugget-recipe.html

Have you asked him why he's not keen?

listening in as DS2 wont touch it and DS1 eats it the same way as Anne's DD does in a stew/soup or chopped so fine it barely can be felt

For some reason he does not like ketchup....have tried that. Great ideas, thanks and good to know we are not alone. He does have a lot of texture issues with foods..
Will def try the chicken nuggets recipe as it is something he has never had.

i also boil chicken legs in water with some sea salt for 1.5-2h and it is so soft that it falls off the bone.  The broth is homemade chicken stock!
