Booster seat for a toddler
« on: April 03, 2012, 19:47:11 pm »
My son is 23 months old (well nearly) and he's resisting getting in the high chair but he's too short for a normal chair.  All the boosters I have seen look pretty small and he's actually ok balanced on a chair without a strap nowadays but I'm not sure he'd be ok without a strap with a booster (but I'm not convinced he'd sanction being strapped in either.)

What do / did you all do?  Use a cushion?  Any recommended larger booster seats?

so ds2 is the same wants to be like his brother so i let him sit on the chair on his knees on a tied cushion.

we had a booster that sat on the chair but he refuses to sit on that as well.

These are really good: http://www.gltc.co.uk/fcp/product/-/back_school_highchairs_booster_seats/Soft-Booster-Seat/10000002048. They also do a version with straps if you need them.

I ended up with two booster seats for DD - both of which worked well. The reason I ended up with two is that I bought the Polar Gear travel one - which is great cos it folds into itself and doesn't weigh much (could even force it into my changing bag cos by the time DD needed it I didn't need to carry lots of other stuff). However, being the forgetful Mum I am I would quite often forget to take it out with us so I then found a hard one in Mothercare (and I had vouchers so it was 'free'  ;)) and bought that for home and left the polar gear one in the car.

Here are the links to both - the Mothercare one has been updated since we bought ours and is a bit more expensive BUT it now has two height settings so that as LO grows you can take it down a notch - ours was just one level. HTH.

DS2 is 23mos and has been climbing in and out of his booster for a few months now.  Sometimes we use the straps, sometimes not.  So last week I finally just got rid of it and he sits on a normal chair on his knees for now.  TBH he hardly sits still long enough anyway.  ::)  I think DS1 was about the same age when we got rid of the booter altogether and let him sit on a chair.

Hmm.  Well we persuaded him to sit in the high chair with the tray removed and pushed up to the table so we'll see how that goes over the weekend.
