Oh no, not again!
« on: April 05, 2012, 12:06:02 pm »
DS is 20 months and for the past 5 mornings has had EWs at 5am. Every day. I need to nip this before it turns into a really bad habit!   :-[

I don't know what the issue is. He doesn't seem to be getting his 2 year molars yet. He does wake up fussing. He'll wake at 5 and the fuss, periodically, until I get him up. I can usually keep him in there until 6:30, but he doesn't go back to sleep. His room is nice and dark, so early light isn't an issue.

Are we heading towards a vicious OT cycle?

Here's a typical day before the EW:
6:30 wu
12:30-2 nap
7:00 bt

With the EW:
5:00 wu
12:30-2 nap (the other day I had to put him down at noon and he slept 1.5)
6:30 BT

How can I fix this?! ??? Help please!! TIA!

In my house, ews were ot. Can you let him sleep a bit longer at lunchtime to see if that helps?  We did get to a point where they needed a long nap but were sometimes not really ready for bed, but I found that if I did lots of physical activity with them then that normally solved that issue.

Oh, I would love for him to sleep longer, except he won't.  ::) He, pretty much, only naps 1.5 hours. Every once in a while he'll do 2 hours. I don't understand that either.  ???

What happens if you put him to bed early? Like maybe 6.15/6.30? My los had a fairly short afternoon for a really long time because they had a long morning - if you look at your day, the morning a is 6-7.5h so he might be exhausted from that and need an earlier bedtime.
