Dairy trial - mild reaction, should I now wait until 2yo?
« on: April 11, 2012, 18:29:29 pm »
MPI DS has had a mild reaction to his 18mo dairy trial, which went as follows:

Yesterday a.m. - 3tsp plain organic probiotic cows milk yoghurt. By evening his eczema was a little worse.

Today a.m. - 6tsp plain organic probiotic cows milk yoghurt. Just before teatime he filled his nappy with some pretty vile smelling poop, then just after tea there was more, with a bit of mucous in it  :(

I'm considering this a fail, and think it would be best to end the trial there rather than potentially irritate his gut further... or should I give him the rest of the yoghurt tomorrow morning?

Not really expecting miracles with DS as DH is MPI and can't even tolerate goat's milk products (which DS can), and DS is still getting 16oz of Pepti 2 milk per day which covers him for vitamin & mineral intake, so would I be right in leaving a further trial until DS turns 2yo?

Thanks,

HH

I would stop! I know how much you probably want him to have it but I'm guessing its only going to get worse?

Thanks Happyface,

Yes, my gut says to stop  :)

I'm not at all fussed about him having dairy tbh as we're a dairy-free household due to DH's MPI so we're quite used to living without it  ;D

I just have to keep trialing him so that the doctors know I am or they'll stop prescribing his special formula  ::)
