My DS is just approaching 7 months and has been STTN since 5.5 months with no effort on my part (yes, I felt blessed).  Just over a week ago I finished the dreamfeed wean.  A few days later we were away for Easter and he started NW.  I blamed it on my older son calling out at night.  I was able to settle him without feeding the first 2 nights.  However, on the 3rd night at 4:30am he wouldn't settle and seemed hungry, so i fed him and he wolfed down 6 oz.  We are now home and with the exception of one night, he has been NW often 2 times a night now - usually 12:30 and 4:30ish.  At 12:30 he's really crying, won't settle and seems to be really hungry - again he wolfs down a 5 oz bottle, is content and then goes back to sleep.

He just got his first tooth poking through last weekend and the second bottom one is appearing also.  Is this just teething related?

Or is this a growth spurt as he seems more hungry?  Is it common to have a GS at 7 month instead of 6 months?  I tried to give him a dreamfeed last night again at 9:30, but it didn't change our night at all.  Did I wean it too soon?

He is mostly bottle fed now without a nursing session in the AM and evening.  He is on solids, but not really crazy on them, but does do them 2-3 meals a day and takes about 3 Tbsp each meal.

Any words of wisdom on what is going on?  I hate to start night feeding and develop a new habit again.  I keep thinking it will pass, but it has been almost a week now.

Thanks!

Wow - I just posted nearly the EXACT same issue!

My LO turned 7 months just 5 days ago, and the last two nights he's woken up every TWO HOURS for a feed! ACK! Mind you, he hasn't yet slept through the night. He still has one feed between 2-3am, plus a DF. Slightly different, but I was wondering if it was a growth spurt as well! He also just broke his first tooth 3 days ago... crazy similar - maybe it's a 'thing' at this age...?  :-\

Could be a GS or to do with teeth. When teething my LO comfort fed moreand also fed less at each feed because it hurt A bit...I would try to not feed too often ie every 2hrs, but 1,2 NF at this age during teething fora few days or week shouldn't create too much of a prop.

I would certainly try medicating at BT and NW if after 4-6 hrs too see if that helps your nights x

Thanks!

We seem to be doing a bit better.  In the last 3 nights, he's STTN 2 of them with no DF.  I decided not to bring back the DF at this stage since he barely took anything from it for so long prior to all this and I don't want to recreate a feed if I don't need to.  When he got up 2 nights ago at 1am, I did put some tylenol in his bottle and we were good for the rest of the night.  Just worried to create a prop of feeding in the night to soothe, as my first DS definitely wanted to drink to soothe and still loves his milk whenever he is cranky or sleepy.

I always figured the GS was at 6 months, but I guess it could be a little later.  He just turned 7 months today.

I will keep my fingers crossed that we are coming out of this night habit for now.

That's great, sounds like he can do it then, but maybe teeth or GS just messed him up a little ;)
