swaddling 2 week old tips?
« on: April 25, 2012, 18:46:09 pm »
I have a 2 week old, Audrey, and she's a pretty consistent 3hr baby (even at night .... sigh) :) However, any tips on how to get her swaddled and stay sleeping? I had great success with swaddling my older daughter when she was an infant, and used the Halo sleep sack with swaddle attachment and the Kiddopautomus swaddle blankets .... however, Audrey doesn't seem to like either one, and using a blanket/receiving blanket doesn't keep her nice and tucked in. When swaddled, she grunts non-stop, waking herself up and I have to help put her back to sleep every time! (which is fine, and understandable as it's still new to her, but I thought that after about 5 days, things would have worked themselves out a bit). I'm not yet on a good EASY yet, as I'm still recovering from c-section and just trying to get through the day with enough sleep to survive; I'm hoping to start working on it next week - baby steps right!
Thanks in advance!

Hi there. I used a woombie swaddle for my LO, which she loved. It has a zip up the middle which makes it virtually impossible for them to escape. However, the lovely stretchy material means that the bub can have some movement without flinging their arms in the air and waking themselves up. Eventually, my dd used to nuzzle the back of her hand through the material to settle herself. This also made it easier to wean her from the swaddle later on, as she was used to having a bt of freedom. Hth.  :)
I hope you recover quickly from the c section and get some good sleep soon. I remember the early weeks were just a sleep deprived blur for me too.

I second the woombie. Or Ergo cocoon which is basically the same.
