Small feeds 10 month old
« on: April 30, 2012, 18:49:58 pm »
Hello :)

Just started bottle feeding DD and she only takes 4 oz every 4 hours. She has been this way since birth (only taking 2-3oz BReast feeding). Should I be concerned with this at all? She has 6 feeds in 24 hours as she still has 2 night feeds. I would love to drop a NF but feel like I cannot with her taking so little :-\ She was born 7 weeks early so an adjusted age of just over 8 months.

Thanks!

Wyatt is taking about 16-20ozs a day of formula - and 3 meals of solid food.  He is 20lbs and 29inches.

Is she gaining weight steadily?  How is she doing with solids?

Yeah she's gaining well. The doctor was a bit worried a few weeks ago but I think the scale must have been out as she's 18lbs now which is 4 times her birth weight! She's only about 25 inches long. She has three meals of solids and does fairly well.

Is Wyatt still NFing?

He was getting 7pm, 11pm, 3am, 7am, 11am, 3pm.... a month ago I began weaning the 3am, and just last week weaned the 11pm bottle.  He still wasn't eating solids that well, so I dropped another bottle and he is doing better now.  So, he gets 730am bottle (6oz), 830am solids, 11am snack, 1230pm solids, 130pm bottle (6oz), 4pm snack, 6pm solids, 7pm bottle (8oz) - water in between.

I weaned the night bottles by giving less in it and moving it 30mins ahead every few days.  When/if he did wake, I just did a little PD - thinking if he was truly hungry, he would keep waking up through the night.  He didn't.

Hey Jenn, Levi only takes 4 oz 3x a day, sometimes a little more and no nightfeeds, 3x solids a day and a couple of small snacks and hes 9 months old now. I was concerned about how little he seems to be taking but I guess as long as he doesnt want any feeds in teh night its ok.

we feed at 7am, 1pm and bedtime around 6.30pmish

Okay! That's good to know.

She ate at 7pm last night and then at 11pm and the 6am this morning :) She was up screaming from about 10:30-1:30 but at least I know she can go that long without a feed!
