« on: June 20, 2012, 12:39:37 pm »
first of all sorry since i've found this site i have posted a few times but everyone seems so nice and helpful its so nice not to feel alone.just need a little moan my ds is coming up 16wks nights are great so far he'll fall asleep on me after bottle at 10ish we swaddle him and put him to bed asleep which i know isnt ideal but he sleeps all night and i want it to stay that way for now.he wakes between 7-8 which fits in perfect for school run and then an hour long dog walk which he sleeps most of the way.then we struggle on day with naps.i tried letting him cry just a bit tried picking him up and trying to soothe in the cot but it doesnt work he just crys or gets more awake.he only sleeps if hes falls asleep on me and then i put him down today hes fighting it.hes been up since 9.50 i tried laying him in cot a couple of hours ago with music didnt work he'll almost drop of on me then when we go to put him in cot he wakes and crys straight away,he must be overtired and must be most days.if i get him up now he will act as if hes had a sleep as if hes trying to be good, hes crying now not to hard so i'm leaving him for a minute but i really dont know what to try.it feels like he'll never sleep and it'll be school run time soon.i just feel so frustrated, very grateful i get a full nights sleep but really could do with a few minutes during the day any help would be great thanks

Hugs hun...  it does get better.

He is sleeping less than 10 hrs at night so I would bet he is starting out the day being OT... you are on an uphill battle for sure.  You really want to aim for a 12 hr night at this age if at all possible.  Even 11 hrs would be better... if it means he wakes for a feed but sleeps longer overall - he will be better rested because of it.

As for the crying - please don't leave him to cry.  BW does not in any way condone leaving a baby to cry alone - it teaches nothing and breaks the bond of trust baby has with you.

If he is just so tired that he simply needs to sleep, don't worry about holding him for a good long nap to help catch him up.

Sounds like you've got a good idea of what his mantra cry sounds like :) How's your routine looking now - like us to take a look? I know you were wondering about reflux at one stage - were you able to talk to your doctor about that?

Hugs xx
