painless lump in breast
« on: June 25, 2012, 20:11:44 pm »
Tonight when giving lo her feed before bed I found a large hard lump in my breast, its about 3 inches long. (I only feed off this breast due to slow let down and Lo being constantly fussy on the other breast).
I'm thinking its probably a blocked duct? I'd worn a non feeding, strapless, wired bra all day, thought maybe the wire had been pressing on my boob. Lo fed as normal 2nite&I tried expressing after the feed to try&release this lump, but couldn't get anything off though :-(

Has anyone experienced anything similar?
If its a blocked duct I just need 2 feed regulary or express? Should I get up in the night 2 feed too? Lo sleeps all night (at last :-) ) she's 8 months old.

Any suggestions welcome.

Some heat before feeding, some massage.  Get some nice warm water on it in the shower in the morning.  Some women swear by using a comb to comb it out.  And feeding!

If it doesn't clear in a couple of days, it might be worth getting it checked out :-*

Thanks for your reply. Feels much better today after lots of massage. Hard 2 get an 8 month old to feed when there's so many distractions :-)
