DF refusal.....help before this evening please!!!!
« on: August 18, 2012, 06:43:11 am »
ok...so after all my deliberations re weaning the DF, last night my LO point blank refused to latch on!(proving yet again she's the boss! ;) ) I lifted her out of the cot as usual & lay her down but she didnt root at all so i tried to latch her on, waking her up in the process  :( poor pet just started crying so i figured she wasnt hungry & resettled her back to sleep eventually.

so!!!!where do i go from here?do i try again tonight?or just leave it?

yesterday looked like this:

E 7.30am   6oz BM in a bottle
E 8.30am   1tblsp quinoa cereal with 1oz BM, 1 oz fruit, 1 oz veg

E 12.00 3 oz formula, 2 oz BM in a bottle (day 2 of introducing FF. on day 1 she had just 1 oz)
E 1pm   1oz fruit, 1 oz veg & half oz BM

E 4.30pm 5 oz BM in a bottle

E 6.45pm BF

no DF @ 10.30pm :o :o :o :o

what should i do?!

she was 7 mo on the 16th btw!
TIA xxx

Not sure if I caught you in time, but I would try again.  With dd1 I can remember a refusal here and there, but she was nowhere ready to drop it.

Then, don't worry about it.  :)  Sometimes, that's just the way the df gets dropped.  She'll let you know if she needs some more calories.

I'd skip it again and see what happens.

I'd just make sure you keep an eye on her diapers to be sure she's still wetting approximately the same amount and as long as you've got that, she should be fine.

I'd just be happy she's dropped the feed  :)

My LO will be 7months at the end of the month and has drastically reduced how much she takes at DF, so then I started decreasing it gradually (now 80ml which I think is just under 3 oz) and I'm considering just not giving it to her one night and seeing what happens!  She's been on 3 meals for a while though.

i think she was reducing what she was taking too, but hard to tell because it's a BF.i was planning to start dropping it at the end of the month (we have 2 weddings thee 31st & 1st so i didnt want to try before then) but i guess she had different ideas!!!!i've been desperate to drop this feed all along (im SO not a night owl!!!) but not that it's happened so suddenly,im kinda anxious....!!!yes...i'm one of THOSE mothers!!!!she downed her 7oz plus another oz in her  cereal btw.

It's ok to be worried, but she sounds like she's doing great!  The 7oz all stayed down?
