what are/were your 12-18 month olds enjoying??
« on: August 28, 2012, 13:03:40 pm »
just wondering what your lo's are playing with atm and what is out for them to play with?

Sharing ideas...

M has a small push chair with her mouse in it
stacking boxes
letterbox to post pieces of paper through
books!
puzzle with animal sounds
musical instruments.

I do try to rotate fortnightly if I remember.

She also likes to push Henry's cars and tractors about.

what else???

Hey Becky
DS is 19 months now but his toys haven't changed much tbh (other than normal rotation that is).
Wooden blocks for building, looking at pictures and letters
Mega blocks for building, colours
cars tractors, trains and trucks and his little people garage
kitchen has been a hit here for a good while.  pots and pans, toy food, shopping basket, tea set etc.
balloons (sometimes helium, sometimes regular)
flash cards he loves because it's like a book to look at pictures but he gets to fill and dump them too.  We also play a fetching game with them.
Arts and crafts stuff (ink pads and stamps, wax crayons, felt tips, foam stickers)
tub of plastic animals
tub of cotton reels (for stacking, rolling, counting and threading)
ride on
stacks of books on rotation
musical instruments are never rotated out of access (we have quite a few things that aren't rotated out now)

He also really loves climbing and throwing himself on a big bean bag and playing tig and balance games and rough housing with me.

K's scooter
Is Baligh riding the scooter already?  I've seen really young LOs on scooters (videos on you tube etc), it's amazing.
DS did his first ever proper push just a couple of days ago and pushed himself the full length of our hall way :)

He tries but really he needs me or k to push him around to get anywhere. Same with the balance bike.
