Transition to big bed has gone horribly wrong :(
« on: August 29, 2012, 08:27:23 am »
Hi All,

There has been a few occasions recently when my DD has decided to try and climb out of her cot usually in the middle of the night, in the dark. She has always been a very tall baby/toddler and the cot has become increasingly more tight for her to sleep. She would wake numerous times banging her head and trying to climb over the side. This weekend we decided for her own safety to move her to a single bed. The first night she absolutely loved it, waking once at midnight and slept until 6.30am. Since then things seem to be going downhill and the last two nights she has woken every two hours crying. When I have gone to her, Ive laid her down and she has gone straight back to sleep for another two hours. To say im exhausted is an understatement and just wondered if anyone else had experienced anything similar during the cot to bed transition?

There's a bit of sleep disruption pretty common around this age with a mental leap http://www.thewonderweeks.com/index.php/about-the-wonder-weeks/your-babys-10-leaps/mental-leap-10, so it may be happening even if she was still in the cot. Those leaps often bring out a little extra clinginess in DS.

Any teeth on their way?

Its possible it is BGB transition related, but there are many other reasons she may not be sleeping as well that are quite common at this age.

Thanks for this. Can't see anymore teeth.. I did have a good look just incase the other night. Its just very odd that she seems to wakes at 2 hour intervals on the dot. She sleeps soundly from 7pm to 12am and then every 2 hours from there!
