Confused with daytime sleep why is it getting shorter??
« on: August 31, 2012, 06:01:38 am »
So my LO sleep was getting better both during the day (sleeping for about 2-2 1/2 hrs) and night (mostly sleeping through), this seems to have changed during the transition to 1 nap ???. I'm not really sure how to get her to sleep for longer during the day as her A time seems long enough (5.30) and now she seems quite disturbed during her night time sleep may b OT?? and what's confussing is she was awake last night for 1 hr when she only had 1.10 Min's of sleep during the day nap so shouldn't be UT??

Our EASY the last week...
7- awake BF
7.45- breakfast
11- lunch (having to give lunch early as it takes a while, and she needs bit of play before nap)
12.30-1.45- sleep (she was sleeping longer but this last wk has gone to 1.15??)
3-3.30- dinner
6- bath and bottle
6.45- asleep (it's taking longer for her to settle she seems wired OT)

Does her A time need to be extended?. She does seem very tired before dinner but afterwards she has second wind. The only other thing to add is she has just got another 2 teeth cut through not sure if this causing the problems??
Any advise on what to do as I don't want her sleeping to get worse and end up effecting her nighttime sleep.

The only other thing I should have added was she was sleeping well 2-2.30 mins when she had an A time of 4.45 pushing to 5 hrs ??

How old is she hun, and how long has she been on one nap? If she's only recently gone to one nap I would think she's OT...1hr10/15 is commonly OT when you first transition (in fact, anything under 2hrs is likely OT!). Have you tried going back to 5hrs A time?

Yes she is only just started the one nap process over the last month we have been stuck in the 2-1 transition. She is 13 months now. Haven't tried going back to 5 hr for two reasons firstly I struggle to hit the 5 hr mark if she has her lunch before her nap( if I leave it till after it's too late really!) it just seems as though she has to eat, poo and go to bed and doesn't really appear tired? I only have 1 hr to do all of the above, but will try if you think it may help.

I would try it. 5.5hrs would be a pretty long A time for that age - my LO went to one nap at 13.5 months and it was a couple more months before she could do 5.5hrs happily. We did lunch around 11 for a long time :)

So still confused as my LO is showing conflicting signs?.

I went back to the 5 hr mark it was more like 5.10 which seemed to help but only for 3 days (she slept for 2-2.5 hrs), then she went back to the pattern of sleeping for 1.10-1.15, the confusing thing is that she is mostly waking happy which doesn't suggest OT but her days are obviously too long and she is waking during the night talking for about 1 hr??

She is resisting a second nap when she only has a short sleep only falling asleep if in the car, so it's not even like she is still tired in the afternoon, yet she is rubbing eyes and yawning?

Really not sure what to do as I really want to keep her sleep patterns to one sleep but not sure if she is ready for an extension to her A time??

Is she still teething hun? The short naps and NWs could be a bit of discomfort perhaps :-\ Tbh, it sounds exactly like my LO over the past two days (short naps, long chatty NW) and I KNOW she hasn't had enough sleep but pretty sure it's because she's cutting two canines. Have you been doing EBT with the short naps?

Yes she is def still teething one is just breaking through :-[ so may b it is just down to that well I hope it is really as I know it will pass! Just wondering if it is anything else though?

I'm trying to do EBT but to be honest she is finding it hard to settle the earliest it has been is 6.30 even when I put her down earlier she just seems to lye there for ages or though the last couple of days she has just zonked out at 6.30 when put down. I have an older child as well and so find it difficult to get her down before 6.30 anyway?
