My Mama is with her now as my emotions were trampling me last night when I was trying to get hr back to bed. She is just livid.  Just don't know how to help her, thought  than 1 1hr55 before CN and then 1hr40 after was not unreasonable but I just don;t know now.

Hugs hun.

If she's around 19 weeks, I do think this could be partly the developmental leap that Sara linked to - it's a biggie ;) Unsettledness from this can last a week or two. How is her behaviour when she's awake?

I think too though, that it's likely she needs the slightly longer A times. 38 mins and 1hr10 both sound UT to me. But if she's doing short naps, she'll get OT by the end of the day which can lead to loooong bedtimes. Are you reducing the next A time a little after a short nap, if you can't resettle?

Not sure of your times zone...so was the 1hr10 just now after you put her down at bedtime? Another thought: could there be any discomfort - early teething perhaps?

More hugs. Glad you've got someone there to give you a hand tonight.
xx

Thanks so much Papaya. I hadn't recovered from last night when started this racket again!! Sometimes she is screaming, sometimes she is cooing! Right now she is screaming her head off, but not alone. Yes she had a 1.5 hour nap and then a 38 minute, resettle and then another 45. Maybe really push the A's tomorrow? Early evening madness sounds OT to me, but what about the wild resistance to getting settled? Not tired enough? Odd that our best evening was when we were out all day and had a ton of little naps, maybe she was tired enough to have a good evening??? SOOOO grateful for your help, this really cute the ground out from under me.

ANd now she is cooing! COuld all this be a UT issue? I know she must have an awful OT buzz by now but she didn't even fall asleep nursing?? ANy strategies?? I am waiting until she is upset again and then sending DH in, that is how she finally fell asleep last night.... Ready to cry here, thank God for family!

Sorry, only just back to this now. Hope she's asleep!

Taking a long time to settle can be OT as much as UT - if they get a bit wired, they find it much harder to settle (in fact, I know I'm the same!). Or it could all be developmental hun, in which case things will calm down in a few days and she'll go back to settling fine!

What was the A time before the good nap this morning? A lot of LOs like a slightly shorter A first up, so it may be that if you get a long am nap, you need to do longer subsequent As to get good naps.

I agree with Nuala, the cooing can well may be OT.
I also agree that she would need more A and maybe this is what you need to focus now (maybe not extending if it's too much for you) and up it by 10-15min for the next three days. That's suppose to prevent OT and after those three days we can see again if she needs more A. Just take the A you were doing previously and work it up from there. During those three days you'd need to be consistent with the new A so we can see if it's really working, this doesn't mean you are totally ignoring her sleepy cues because we don't want her to get very OT, we will have another problem to deal with then :P but by stretching it only by 10min there shouldn't be a build up of OT.

She did actually finally go to sleep. After, yes, about 3 hours! Alternated with my Mama just trying anything to get her back to sleep. At 11:00. Got her to sleep until 9:00 after about 5 night wakings. Gave her feeds at12;30, 3ish, 6 and then she burbled at 7:15 but thankfully went back to sleep until 8:45. Not the best night!! Today were in town and at church so have had a series of short naps. Thinking go about 1hr40 since a 45 minute nap, then CN and 1hr40 to bed? Hoping and praying it goes ok. ANy thoughts, going to stick with your suggestions next few days as close as possible. Maybe 1hr50 to first nap and then 2:05 to 2nd nap, then 2:05 to CN, 1hr40 to bed after CN????  This is assuming our night isnt too awful!! Thanks so much for your help Mamas. I would be falling apart without some guidance and support on this mess!

Hugs and calm thoughts. I would go with a 2hr A to BT or a touch less if OU think she is catching up on OT :-\

Since she slept an hour, I was not counting on that, I did 2 hr. It was 2hr5 when she was TOTALLY out, maybe a touch less. She burbled around the 45 mark but slept until 10:30!! After a bedtime of 8:40 ( Not good I know, but hopefully we can move this back if we have less sessions of craziness) I went ahead and fed her as I was hoping to get to bed. I am limp with relief!! Off to bed now and hoping for a good 2.5 hours or something... DOes the plan with those A's look good for tomorow if this night is decent?? Papaya, our last good morning nap we got ( after a short night) was a 1hr40. If tonight is good how does the 1hr50 sound???THanks so much all.....

So I think she can do a bit more than you think ;) ie 1 hr nap is ok, not great but ok,and 2 hrs on that at the end of the day is a decent A.

If nuala agrees I would say give that first A a nudge to 1hr50 if she will take it ;) I always find OT easier to resettle than Ut anyway ;)

OK, so here is what we have had so far ;). 1hr54 1stA got us a 1hr26 nap. a 2hr7A got us a 1hr5 minute nap. Not 100% sure this didn't have something to do with a slight protest on DS's part but I have impressive white-noise in her room so I actually doubt it. Gave 2nd nap a 15 minute attempt at resettle but remembered that wakeups after an hour rarely resettle, usually the case with her. So thinking in about 2 hours I will try for another decent nap and ditch the CN? WHat fo you think Mamas. Maybe go for a 2hr A after anything over an hour? Thinking that what with the shorter naps her total day may have been too short, maybe that was contributing to the 3 Hour Madness? What do you think? Thanks Mamas

That's great today :) its worth a shot trying the 2 hr A, though some Los get more tired throughout the day so it could be too much :-\ a least you can try a resettle if the nap is rubbish ;) x
