What does this mean??
« on: September 15, 2012, 11:29:02 am »
Although I can rarely put my LO down to sleep I can always get her to sleep. Unfortunately it involves standing up rocking her in my arms but she is usually off within 5 to 15 mins and then I have to sit down and hold her - madness, i know!! However, today I have just been bobbing her up and down for well over an hour (after 1.5 A time when she started to get fussy) Her eyes kept closing but they would open again and so she has had no sleep!! She doesn't seem uncomfortable or grouchy? What could this mean? Of course, I understand it could be a one off but if it's not does it mean it's time for a routine change as I have only just about got the EASY 3 hours sorted. She IS 14 weeks on tuesday

Hi hun,

It could be a once-off - or there's a big developmental leap around 12/13 weeks that can make LOs pretty restless too. Perhaps she's just hitting that. http://www.thewonderweeks.com/index.php/about-the-wonder-weeks/your-babys-10-leaps/mental-leap-3 1hr30 is about right as an A time for this age.

I see you're getting some great advice on the EASY forum about routine and independent sleep :)

So it wasn't a one off, it continues to happen  :( My LO is coming up 15 weeks and I am trying my best with 3 hr EASY  but does this reluctance to nap mean I need to move to 3.5 EASY? I can't imagine her being happy about eating every three and a half hours rather than three  :-\

Can you post your EASY for the past day or two? Sometimes at this age the A times and E times that a LO can do don't quite add up so you have to be a bit flexible - give a small top-up feed before a nap, for example, if her nap time will run over when she will next be hungry.
