hey!

a couple of times i have dropped DD off a church nursery w/ expressed BM and they try to give her the bottle and she doesn't take much of it and then i have to get rid of 4 oz or so bc she has taken a little of it. grrrrrr.

so i'm not going to bother sending BM and going to freeze in 1 oz for me to use for cereal, etc.

so in the odd chance she needs a bottle somewhere else i am just going to send formula. i think she is usually not hungry enough to take the bottle. (she has had bottles of EBM in the past but nothing recent).

anyway, long story short - how many ounces would you send? 4-6???

Yes, maybe try y and see if she leaves any then adjust for the next time.

How long is she at the church nursery? I'm pretty sure you can leave breast milk that has been tasted and offer it again a couple hours later.

I'd probably leave 4, probably just enough to tide her over if she's very hungry.

Ali- yes I think so but prob for less than 24 hr? Then I still have to waste unless I try to give it to give it to her instead of nursing...

If she's not that interested in the EBM do you think she'll be more interested in the formula?  Especially if you're surmising that she's not hungry enough for the EBM :-\

Oh right Heather, sorry I thought you meant she just wanted it later. I didn't realise she wasn't taking it at all while you were gone.

Could they just give her some finger foods if she's hungry?

Well I just feel bad leaving nothing with a nursery worker. They panic if there is no milk! Rather dump out formula than my milk.

Would they give her some puree then? Or haven't you started solids yet? I just thought she may be.more interested in solids if she isn't keen on a bottle.

Yeah, I would leave just a couple ounces of formula then.

When Allie was in daycare we used to leave formula every day -- she never once took it but better dumping that out than breastmilk.
