need help dropping dreamfeed at 9 months
« on: October 09, 2012, 21:53:39 pm »
Hi
I posted a while back about dropping the dream feed, we were giving 8oz at around 9 or 10pm and he would go through till 7am ish. We gradually dropped down to 4oz at around 9pm but as we trird.to drop to 3 he was waking up during the night. Due to family events it has been necessary over the last few weels to put him down to sleep at 7 at my parents house and then bring him home at 10 so giving him the dreamfeed has helped us but now I am desperate to stop it before I go back to work.
Any help and advice would be very gratefully received
Thanks so much x

Just to add, he is breastfed in the morning, has a bottle 6oz at 3pm and a bottle 8oz at 6.30pm

He is breastfed in the morning
Has a weetabix for breakfast
Lunch like chicken or meat or fish and veg plus fruit pot
6 oz. Formula in afternoon
Supper like pasta or egg plus yoghurt
8 oz. Formula before bed
Dreamfeed was 8oz now down to 3 oz over the last few days and just gave him 2oz tonight so will see what uappens!
He's a pretty good eater
When he has woken up during the night I have just fed him to get him back to sleep (prob not the best thing to do I know) he doesn't feed to sleep at any other time.

Will he take more than 6oz in the afternoon? If he will take 8oz like he does at bedtime I would offer that, then the 2 8oz bottles plus a breastfeed and you know he has had enough milk during the day. It looks like he is eating well, I would just offer water when he wakes at night and resettle - I doubt he is waking from hunger really!

Thanks, I will try and feed him more in the afternoon, last night I fed him 2oz at 10pm and with a bit of persuasion he went back to sleep till 6.30am. I know he prob isn't hungry when he wakes but it has been the easy option!

It all depends on what you want - if it's easier to feed and get him back to sleep quickly and you are happy to do that then it's not a problem! You need to do what suits you all - the easiest option is usually my choice!
