One nap day
« on: October 23, 2012, 14:52:42 pm »
Dd is 9mo too early to transition??

Last night BT 8
nw 4.30-5.05 teething meds

Today

Wu 8.45 i woke her
E 6oz 8.45
Breakfast 9.15
Early lunch 11.30
E 6oz 12.45
Nap 1-3.30
E 4oz 3.45

Will do

Tea 5.00
BT 6oz 7.15
BT 7.45

Is this sustainable easy or just one off? Can I alternate between one nap and two nap days?

How long a time should I aim for before BT today? I was going to do 4h15. Is that ok??

Tia xx

hi hun,

9 months would be pretty young to transition fully to one nap, but she may be ready to start moving towards it. Has she generally been low sleep needs? What has her EASY been recently with two naps?

There are a couple of stickies about the 2-1 transition you might want to read through:
10/ 11mo sleep gone wonky? Read this first!
from 2 to 1 nap - how, when and the bumps

7.45 is probably ok today after that long nap, but I'd be watching out for OT and maybe get her down 15 mins earlier if you need to :)

I know there are LOs are on here who transitioned at 9/10 months - yours might be one of those! Yes, some LOs do well with alternating 1 and 2 nap days, others do better with mostly one nap and a CN thrown in every few days as needed (can be in the car, stroller etc). EBT is key for avoiding OT, if your LO tacks on to night sleep (my LO did lovely long nights when she first transitioned...unfortunately it didn't last long!).

There's a support thread here too: Anyone want to talk about the 2-1 transition? Thread #23

Thanks nuala. Ill hop onto the other thread and see how we get on. She's very unpredictable so I'm not expecting things to run smoothly but I think nap and CN will prob be way fwd for us xx
