10.5 month old waking at 5-5.30
« on: October 31, 2012, 05:52:11 am »
my twins has been waking at 5-5.30 for a few weeks now.
To try and combat it and get back to 645-7 wake ups I've delayed BT to 730 was 7pm capped naps and pushed out the first nap off the day. Now I'm tired have a very early bedtime myself so I can survive the day and unsure where to go next.

Day looks like this ATM
Wake 5- 530 I go into them only when they start really calling for me and give them their milk
Out of bed at least 630 if possible
Nap 10-11.15/11.30 (930 if really tired)
Nap 230-3 usually wake after 45mins but sometimes still tired and grouchy
Bed asleep 730

Any advice on where to go next? I don't feel I can drop to much more sleep without OT babies to contend with :/

Hi yes i read through this before and I definitely think we are moving towards this I just don't want to do it too fast and end up in a mess with two OT babies at the minute even with the EW they are happy little boys! So help on how to move forward would be very helpful. The 3-2 transition happened really easy for us but obviously this one is going to take some work :)

Just to add though after posting this they had their milk and went back to sleep till 820! They did the same a couple of days ago!

Yay on the sleep in ;)

So I would first work out what nap you want to be the main nap, and the other will be 'capped' to maintain BT.
Given you have EW you need to either push that first nap out gently, closer to 10.30/11 - you can do this over a few weeks if you like. OR cap that nap at 45 mins and offer a long PM nap 2.5/3 hrs later.

What do you think would work best? X

Hi ZacsMumme

So what I started to do was cap the morning nap as they couldn't quite make it to 1030 with the EW and then they had a longer pm nap. This stopped their lovely 5am wake up calls :) and we are back to 630/645 which is great.

So now we are working on pushing back their first nap which is now at 1030. Some days they wake up after 45 mins which is fine then they have a longer nap in the PM other times they have a long nap so they have a cat nap later to get them happily through to BT.

So fingers crossed, for the time being anyway, we seemed to have a working plan :) thanks for your help

They have a head cold at the minute thanks to Daddy so they have gone to sleep early today with red eyes and runny noses :(.

xx
