OMG help me someone please!
« on: November 30, 2012, 22:03:46 pm »
I have not been on here in soooo long but a huge problem at home and a comment from hubby just now "where are your baby whisperer friends when we need them"! Has prompted me to post.

We moved DS who is now 2.6 months to a BBB a week or so ago and have major issues with his sleeping now. He was previously sttn in his cot. He is now waking 10+ times a night and in most instances we are struggling to get him back off. He comes up with every issue under the sun from wanting a cuddle and kiss, a tissue, a drink, a specific thing like his hammer under his bed, you name it.

We are totally and utterly exhausted. Back going to be at 8:30pm in order to get some sleep! It's like having a new born again. Nothing seems to work.

Help!!!!

Can you move him back to his cot  ???.  Or did you move him because he was climbing out?

We talked about it but I didn't want to confuse him. He wasn't climbing out.

Hmm, I don't know then.  If it were me I think I would risk confusing him just to get some more sleep  ;)!  Is he too big for his cot/cotbed now?

How have you talked about the BBB to him? I found DS has been waking less often when I've talked to him about how to go back to sleep without me rather than telling him how I'll be there whenever he needs me (said with the best of intentions to help him feel secure). Does he know what you want him to do if he wakes at night - roll over, close eyes, go back to sleep?

Is he getting out of bed? Have you told him specifically that he's not allowed to? With Stan I gave him three big buttons, and each button was a 'call back', and each time he called me back for something he had to give me a button. Once I had all the buttons, I wouldn't go to him again. Also something like a Groclock so he can see that it is night time, and you can tell him, 'when you see the moon that means mummy is asleep'. Then just put a gate up at his door and leave him be. Expect tantrums. Call out to him 'Honey it is night time, mummy is asleep' (every once in a while). And remember there's no such thing as a 'no cry' solution for toddlers ;)

LOL!  Actually, there is a No Cry Sleep Solution for Toddlers and Preschoolers ;)

Joking aside, I love Anna's idea of the callback buttons!

He somehow doesn't seem to understand anything and I think now we are dealing with an overtired wreck. Tonight he went to bed at 7pm and has so far woken five times, it's now 12:30 am. He doesn't seem to understand, Ives tried things like taking away favourite toys, no peppa pig on tv, no treats, I've even tonight threatened to put him in the garden lol! He says he understands then next time he wakes he's crying and screaming at his gate on the door.

Would putting him back in his cot do more harm than good?

I don't think he or us can take much more of this.

No! Just put him in his cot and get some sleep!

Yes, Kara, and in it Elizabeth Pantley concedes that the name is a misnomer ;)

LOL!  I haven't had to read it yet ;)  Though I am sure I will soon enough...

I agree - back into the crib, he isn't ready for the BBB yet ;) Don't worry, he won't be in a crib at college hun!

I would put him back i the crib and not give it another worry!  :-*  We did not move my DS to a BBB until he was 3y9mo..nearly 4!!  No problems at all once we did, because he was very ready for it.
